I do not think that KDDM and PBE, while useful for predicting patient outcomes and identifying weaknesses with certain interventions, will ever completely replace the traditional methods of establishing good practice. Rather, more traditional methods, such as EBP, will be combined with KDDM and PBE to significantly improve patient care. Integrating these methods into one will establish a practice founded not only on proven research but also the simultaneous collection of information about the chosen intervention and their potential outcome. This hybrid practice will be centered on the individual patient will provide the possible chance of recovery and superior care. For so long healthcare practices have been built on the traditional method…
It informs management of the obstacles that we anticipate and allows for increased focus on patient care. It is clear my colleagues value my input and seek out my guidance. The BSN program taught me the significance of being a nurse leader and an advocate for nursing. At work I am vocal and generate projects to improved patient care and safety, communication among staff, and instigating effective system changes.…

An FNP is involved in direct care activities such as advanced physical assessments, deciphering laboratory data, performing diagnostic procedures, and implementing pharmacological and holistic therapies which are a part of scientific practice competencies (The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties [NONPF], 2014, p. 3). Using these competencies, a FNP can derive new interventions and develop new scientific information that can help the profession advance. It is the duty of the FNP to introduce new knowledge into the field. The FNP uses critical thinking not only in assessments but in the act of decision making in order to provide adequate interdisciplinary care. An FNP must demonstrate leadership capabilities while collaborating with others.…
Introduction: A conceptual model is a representation of concepts which are used to help people know, understand or simulate a subject represents. Moreover, a model is used to create the various hypothesis which can be used to test in the laboratory study or which can be utilized for explaining in a case study. The goal of this assignment is to explore three models of evidence-based practice (EBP) that may interest the authors and give an explanation. Although several models are used in research, this paper will only highlight three specific models and provide a summary, strengths, weaknesses and a model that will be utilized by in a particular practice.…
The course NSC 840 Theoretical Foundations for EBP has definitely surpassed my expectations. I have gained a strong knowledge base that I can utilize throughout my practice as an family nurse practitioner (FNP). I have come to realize that this knowledge base is essential to holistic nursing care. Many of the assessment techniques, and interventions that we use daily are based on nursing theory. It is easy to get complacent in our chosen field of study, this course made me stop and think more about the basis of my actions in daily care.…
Introduction The author will relate his family of origin in the context of a systemic analysis, an underlying theme, and identify an evidenced based practice (EBP) which will address the challenges presently affecting the family. The author conducted interviews with two family members and conducted a review of family artifacts for anecdotal information. While there is no particular reason to doubt the validity of the information related by said interviews, the author makes a point of addressing any bias which may influence the interviewee. A review of empirical and scholarly literature was conducted to decide upon the proper EBP. It is the goal of the author for the reader to have a good understanding of the family of origin, to the point…
Those who have violated their codes as a Nurse, the BRN disciplinary action involve a trial process by first being heard by the board members. If those who have been found guilty and depending on the severity, the disciplinary actions include probation, suspending rights to practice nursing, and revoking license…
Ethics This essay will discuss the ethical safeguards for clinical research that may not apply to evidence-based projects. Additionally, this essay will discuss ethical controversies related to two ethical exemplars. In conclusion, patients’ ethical responsibility in improving healthcare will be explored. Ethical Safeguards Clinical research involves the study of investigational analysis of data or experiments that involve humans.…
In order to maximize my ability to assist future patients, it is my dream to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree at Wilmington University. I wish to receive training at the doctoral level, as I am highly interested in enhancing my clinical knowledge and ability to practice more independently. I feel that my previous nursing education, as well as the many years of working experience obtained, has prepared me for the challenges to be encountered by a nurse at the highest level of clinical practice. The changing demands of this nation 's complex healthcare environment require the highest level of scientific knowledge and practice expertise to assure quality patient outcomes.…
I begin by showing respect to the patient and by letting the patient feel comfortable to assist them with sharing information. This principle is the first step towards a trustworthy patient-clinician relationship. After gaining mutual respect, harmonized goals is applied by completing my assessment using Situation, Background, Assessment, and Recommendation (SBAR). It is completed through the assessment and the development of the plan of care.…
In today’s dynamics of health care, nursing researchers play a significant role in joint partnerships with other health care disciplines to develop evidence-based practices that improve the care and outcomes of their patients (LoBiondo-Wood & Haber, 2014). The identification of a better way to practice patient care in my workplace has been discovered and descriptions of the steps required to implement this change are reflected upon. My organization encourages changes that promote the safety and quality of care of our clients as long as it is supported by the evidence. Nursing research, research utilization, and evidence-based practices are separate entities and in combination will provide the evidence that supports change to improve patient…
It contributes to greater nurse efficiency and professionalism which helps results in better health outcomes for the patients. EBP is a crucial element of quality care since individual nurses are able to position themselves to provide optimal care to the patients by using the competencies acquired from the practice (Polit & Beck, 2010). Patients will often have an improved outcome where EBP has been used because it promotes the collection, interpretation and integration of reports from the clients, observations of the practitioner and the research obtained from evidence to give maximum results. As a result, the preferences of the patients themselves, their families and those of the community as a whole are served (Polit & Beck,…
Evidence Based Practice Evidence-based practice (EBP) is best described by Hood (2014, p. 250) as “practice based on the best available evidence that also incorporates patient values and preferences and clinician judgement and expertise”. Nurses use evidence-based practice to improve and transform healthcare, by reforming care so that is more effective, safe, and efficient. The goal of most research utilization and evidence-based practice is to improve care delivery or client outcomes. Evaluation of evidence-based practice Bennett (2009) states that there are five key steps in the evidence-based process that include: “(1) formulation of a clinical question; (2) gathering the best evidence to answer the clinical question; (3) critical…
Nursing today is mostly based on evidenced-based practice that is derived from previous research studies. As a nursing professional, I will follow and do what is right and the best interest of my patients. I believe that the use of EBS is imperative in nursing because it gives the best possible care for the patient. Evidenced Based Practice benefits not only the patients, but also the nursing staffs and organizations.…
