The change in concentration of sucrose affect the change in mass of potatoes cores.
Introduction This experiment was focus about osmosis. If solute cannot readily move across the membrane, water will move and tend to balance the solute concentration. In this process, called osmosis, water moves across a membrane from the hypotonic compartment (with a lower concentration) into the hypertonic compartment (with a higher concentration). In hypotonic solution, the concertation of a substance is larger within the cell; the cell gains water to dilute this concertation . in hypertonic solution, the concentration of substance is larger in solution than the cell. The cell will …show more content…
the final weight ranged from 6.28g to 8.05g. If we increase the sucrose solution concentration, the percentage weight of the potato will decrease. The result show that the solution is were hypertonic because it caused the cell to lose weight. This table show the data that we recorded. Sucrose Molarity 0% 1% 5% 10% 15%

Conclusions The purpose of this experiment to determine the osmolarity of sucrose within the potato tuber. It was about osmosis Based on the result of the experiment my hypothesis is not acceptable. I reject my hypothesis because when I started my experiment the potatoes will gain weight after I put it in the sucrose solution but the result shows me that was not correct. The potatoes loss their weight. There is some limitation in the experiment for instance the time limitation was not accurate when we did the experiment. In the future the time should be accurate for all
