Methodology refers to the methods of collecting, organizing and analyzing data. The choice of the methodology depends on the nature of the research question. The methodology includes the design, setting, sample, limitations, data collection and analysis. It is a framework of the procedures and methods used in the study. It is a subjective approach employed to describe life experiences and attach meaning to these experiences. Qualitative research, in contrast to quantitative research, is associated with experiences as opposed to statistical and numeric qualities. A qualitative research approach uses a holistic approach to understand human experience. The approach does not use specific concepts because the original context of experience is unique and can generate an in-depth picture of the individual’s reality in the social context. A qualitative research, therefore, does not adopt formal structured instruments in the collection of data. I sought to uncover the nature of interpersonal communication, describe the use of technology and interpret whether its use was satisfactory. The study adopted a phenomenological approach to explore the daily experiences of individuals on whether interpersonal communication was satisfactory with the use of technology. Phenomenology examines the experience from the individual’s everyday life. This way, the persons experience and not presuppositions, logic or previous theory forms the basis of the study. The individual’s experiences are unique and its interpretation is entirely subjective.
