DEFINITION:
An electronic or automated function that indicates that a person wrote the contents of an electronic message or that replaces a handwritten signature with a computer generated signature statement, or that the person who wrote a message is actually the author and that the message received is the one that was sent by this person.
POLICY STATEMENT:
An electronic signature, or e-signature, shall be used for medical records as a means for authentication of electronic entries and/or any document contained in or added to the medical
