While I did not have the option to ask her about herself, she described herself to the grandfather as friendly, outgoing, happy, relatable, and social amongst other things (Mrs. Stokely, personal communication, February 5, 2016). The grandfather, an unwitting informant, described her as a being many unsavory things, but the most profound was he found her to be fake every time he had to “suffer her company” (Stokely, personal communication, February 5, 2016). Her husband, another unwitting informant, continued the negative assessment with how inept she was as a woman or wife which gave me perspective across different situations not just in the emergency room (Mr. Stokely, personal communication, February 5, 2016). In my observation, she made sure to seek-attention, perform to those she felt were important, ignore people she felt insignificant, and generally act as if she was above others. If she had known I was observing her, she probably would have been irritated or have requested to be moved because I was beneath her perceived station in life. Had it not been for the “I-data” from her two male companions, I would have assumed this to be isolated to this setting; however, with their input I was able to ascertain some of these traits as consistent in many settings (Funder, 2016, pp. 29-35).
