Texas is one of the states who is deeply affected and has multiple tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and wildfires. On August 17th, South Texas experienced one of the serverist major hurricane since 1970. Hurricane Harvey was evolved from a tropical wave emerged from the African coast. Eventually it formed into a tropical storm with heavy rain and hard winds. Hurricane Harvey took over all of South Texas and spreaded towards the Gulf of Mexico. With winds reaching up to 130 mph there was two feet of rainfall within 24 hours on the hurricane that caused damages to houses, schools, factories, automobiles and refineries. Texas was also the nation’s number one gasoline producing state which was affected harshly by the hurricane. This was super devastating to the 6.6 million residents living in the Houston metro area. As of September 5, 2017, Hurricane Harvey damaged 203,000 homes, of which 12,700 were destroyed (The Balance). Reports show that Hurricane Harvey caused over 180 Billion dollars in damages! It affected over 13 million people through Texas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Louisiana and killing 82 people.
