The Community Health Clinic provides several programs to the adolescent population. In this clinic, adolescents can obtain information and services regarding contraception services, pregnancy testing and sexually transmitted disease services and treatment to name a few. In the last year, 70% adolescents 15-24 were treated for gonorrhea. This clinic also serves a large poverty population. Typically, the adolescent years are a healthy time in life, it is also a time when public health, social health problems or concerns can begin to appear. Environmental factors, media, billboards, television, social interactions are all sources of pressure to adolescent behavior. Adolescents that are growing up in areas that are distressed, have less resources for activities or support, increased environmental hazards, poverty, exposure to sex or violence place these adolescents at increased risk.
