The living things that impact them are known as biotic factors. The basic living things that impact the eastern grey kangaroo are vegetation, predators, and competition. Vegetation is very important because grasses, herbs, flowers, shrubs, leaves, ferns, and mosses are its mains sources of food. Although eastern grey kangaroos have a wide range of food, their predators are limited. This is because they overpopulate all other creatures. Dingoes are their biggest threat, next to humans who are decreasing the population of kangaroos in Australia. Eastern grey kangaroos travel in mobs (groups) of fifty or more that include both males and females. Kangaroos don’t fight very often, but when they do it is typically over the females in their mob. They will fight each other by biting, kicking, and boxing, but they rarely ever hurt each other in the process. Whoever ‘wins’ the fight will earn the mating …show more content…
Three important abiotic factors for kangaroos include moisture, precipitation, and water. Moisture is a key factor in the life of eastern grey kangaroos. In contrast to other kangaroos, they prefer moist environments such as open woodland forests and coastal forests but live in open grasslands too. The precipitation is important to eastern grey kangaroos because if there is too much rainfall, the plants it needs to survive will be overwatered. The plants in Australia don’t need much water because they have adapted to the dry environment, but on occasion, rainfall is needed. Apart from precipitation, eastern grey kangaroos do not need much water in their environment. In fact, kangaroos can go months without it! Even though the habitat is quite dry, there is water and it is in large bodies. Kangaroos have been recorded swimming in them confidently by paddling with both arms and legs like a dog
