Nanotechnology is a new and developing field that has flourished in the past decade. Hundreds of discoveries have already been made and products continue to advance thanks to the research that is being done in nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is helping create more efficient devices, medical tools with a higher capability, and energy efficient tools. A highly researched product that has been created is called Flat Photovoltaic Cells, more commonly known as solar panels. These cells, created by Bauder, have been implemented in thousands of houses and company properties. The product continues to be researched and refined as they become more demanded and the market continues to grow.

Photovoltaic cells convert solar radiation into electrical energy. The cells produce direct current from daylight. That current is then stored in batteries or transformed by an inverter into alternating current. From this step the current is fed into electricity networks or grids. The energy is then free to power various buildings, houses, or devices. There are two methods to install photovoltaic cells: ballasting and welding. This methods weld membrane on top of membrane to single ply systems. The installment does not require any penetration of the surface they are applied to. This characteristic allows the device to be highly resistance to any extreme weather. Bauder has created advanced roofs, with built in ventilation. There are four types of ventilation designs including permanent ventilation, controlled louvre ventilation, hinged ventilation, and hinged access. Each design is made for a specific purpose. For example, with permanent ventilation two of the four sides of the room are ventilated, which is perfect for bathrooms. Hinged access allows full access to the roof which is good for buildings that are used to store large …show more content…
The device is secured to a roof in single units. The module and substructure are combined and then secured to the roof. To allow for maximum energy generation and minimum wind load, the base units create a ten degree angle on top of the photovoltaic module. Altogether, the system only weighs approximately 12.9 kilograms per meter squared. It is made with static glass that is certified under the german standard and has been tested in wind tunnels. Systems created by Bauder come with a ten year guarantee and operate with a 15.7 percent efficiency level. An energy performance at 95 percent is guaranteed for five years. Also, at nominal power, or the power of the battery which is determined by measuring the current and the voltage of the system at varying resistances, is guaranteed to operate at 90 percent for ten years and twenty five year at eighty percent nominal
