Hereby the curriculum strands Science Understanding and Science Inquiry Skills, as well as and the cross-curriculum priority sustainability are addressed. Based around the covered unit work of the Earth and Space Science content descriptor ACSSU116, the assessment covers the exploration of ways in which humans use and impact on resources from the earth, including sustainable alternatives. The assessment implements the science inquiry sequence of questioning, investigating, analysing, evaluating and communicating (ACSIS124-133). With sustainability being the main issue of the argumentative task, students consider the importance of protecting environments and creating a more ecologically and socially just world (SCSA, 2016a).
