Because you are your own authority and what you decide is right. The community in which you live plays a big part also in what you believe are truths. Each individual or culture develops their own moral codes. They believe that no one has the authority to define truth or impose upon others his idea of moral right and wrong . Everyone is to be treated equally. They believe reason should not be trusted as there is no way to know which person’s reason is right.
Believing in God means coming under his authority and in this worldview you are the authority so there is no need for God. With a shift from viewing God as our authority it is now that we are our own authority, therefore we do what we see to be right or wrong .
In the Western world there are deep-roots of this worldview in our society and many Christians unawaringly adapt an attitude aligning with this view . Because you can choose your own truths, Christians can fall into this dangerous worldview when reading their Bible.
