As described in Lamanna & Reidman (2014) and lecture noted from Hooper (2016), this theory is for families that like to maximize rewards and minimize costs. It also focuses on the resources that one brings into the relationship. This theory applies to my family in a handful of different ways. As shown in the genogram, on my father’s side, when a family member finds a relationship with good rewards, such as fertility, that reward is not taken for granted. With the reward of fertility there is room to create a large family. This later on pays off with great benefits when the children are older.
