There are different models of relationship. Some demonstrate harmonious interactions while others tell about partners’ problems. Stories, which will be analyzed in this essay, are referred to the last category. Both The Eye of the Night by Karla Suarez and Aurora by Junot Diaz tell about unhappy, futureless relations; but authors highlight different reasons for these conditions. In the first case problems were caused because of lack of communication and common interests between partners. Relations of characters in Aurora suffer because of drug abuse, poor living conditions and their criminal activity. While stories speak about different topics, they are united by one common issue – people destroyed their relations because of the unwillingness to make effort for their saving.

Characters are aggressive, they take drugs and their current life pattern is destined for destruction. Couple in The Eye of the Night represents a successful middle class, and the author did not say anything about some of partners acted violently towards other one. But both relations did not have any perspectives. It is possible to suggest Eye’s protagonist’s condition would continue to become worse, if she would decide to stay with Jorge. Progression of her dissatisfaction would easily drive her to Aurora-like state – an inadequate girl which is ready to hurt her partner. There is a potential for aggressiveness in Jorge’s behavioral pattern too; he leaved quite peacefully, but his words and anger make people think he could easily act like Aurora’s protagonist in the final
