Simile: “Montag ,you shin that pole like a bird up a tree” (31). This signifies Montag went up that pole quick and smooth like birds because they go up trees multiple times in a day so they constantly gain speed and motion.
Imagery: “The fire house trembled as a great flight of jet planes whistled a single note across the black morning sky” (32-33). This gives the reader an image of darkness because it says black morning sky and it makes the reader think about jet planes make a whistling noise as they cross the sky.

“Time has fallen asleep in the afternoon sunshine” (35). Time is going by slow is what this sentence is representing because when people sleep their life slows down.
