Sexual harassment does not always have to be specifically about sexual behavior or directed at a specific person. For example, negative comments about women as a group may be a form of sexual harassment. Sexual harassment interferes with your performance by threatening your job or becoming a distraction during work (RAINN).
Some people believe that men do this because they want to show their authority. It is common in the workplace to make a female co-worker feel as if they are lesser by putting them in uncomfortable positions where they feel they are not in control. Then if they women tries to report it she is asked if she was “asking for it” by the way she was dressed or by her attitude towards them.
Why do teachers and authority figures teach women to dress or act so a man does not rape or harass them instead of teaching men that it is not acceptable to harass women? When rules are placed against clothing girls wear to be comfortable it makes us feel that if we do not hide our bodies we could be in danger of being sexually harassed. It objectifies us as sexual tools to be used instead of human beings
