Are you for or against technology?
There has been an ongoing debate between educators concerning the effect on students towards the use of computers in the classroom, and whether it has a positive impact on learning. The school board took the final decision and banned technology. Does connectivity to the rest of the globe increase performance in the classroom or serve as a distraction?
The grounds on which they have prohibited technology has been based on distraction and cyberbullying. Distraction in class by devices is very common. Based on the fact that double-tasking is not having good results, technology creates an impediment for sweeping up knowledge. Simultaneously, cyberbullying has also had bad fallout in the class. The effects of this horrid phenomena are catastrophic, leaving students to suffer from the societal wrath and perform detrimentally. There have been many studies demonstrating how terrible bullying has been over the years and it’s effect on individuals. Yet, because of technology bullying has grown vastly and has had a larger effect on people. The effects are shown in students by experiencing sleep loss, an increase in sadness and receiving poor grades. This is very unhealthy for the victim and if we can acknowledge these students, that would help them remarkably. Although this occurs outside of the classrooms, it has a great and deep effect on many individuals inside of the class. There are good arguments for the censorship of technology because it can prevent these deleterious acts on people and the lack of attention in the classroom.
However, these bad outcomes have uncomplicated solutions. The school administration should set up a firewall that is able to detect and block devices, in order to thwart sending harmful language or the entry to specific websites, games and applications. In addition, teachers would be
