The nerdy guys in both shows (Ross in Friends and Ted in HIMYM), fall in love with the girl whose life re-starts with the Pilot of the show. Ironically both of these ‘working women” who start their life over with the start of the show both have names with the initial “R”. Although this may seem like these two shows are parallels, situations and minor character set these shows very much apart. Joey is a lovable sandwich lover while Barney is a player. Phoebe, well that's exactly where the shows differ, there is no sixth character on HIMYM. The lack of a character completely changes the dynamic of the small plot events. Characters like Janice and Gunther and Carol and Susan give Friends a more entertaining humor rather than HIMYM’s lame excuse of a show. Friends also had many celebrity guests and a sad ending that tied the show together in a way that pleased fans for the most part. Unlike the mediocre ending to what was the longest and worst excuse for a story on how Ted met his kid’s mother. The show could have stopped after the Pilot because as predicted Ted and Robin end up together; but not after wasting ten seasons on nonsense that led to well
