Classification of glaucoma is categorized into different types. The main two types are open-angle and angle-closure which are marked by an increase of intraocular pressure (IOP), or pressure inside the eye.
Open-Angle Glaucoma:
“Open-angle” means that the angle where the iris meets the cornea is as wide and open as it should be. Open-angle glaucoma can be called as primary or chronic glaucoma. It is the most common type of glaucoma.
Angle-Closure Glaucoma:
It comes under the category of acute glaucoma or narrow-angle glaucoma. Unlike open-angle glaucoma, angle-closure glaucoma is a result of the angle between the iris and cornea closing.
Normal-Tension Glaucoma (NTG):
It can be called as low-tension or normal-pressure glaucoma. In normal-tension glaucoma the optic nerve is damaged even though the eye pressure is not very high. We can not assume why some people’s optic nerves are damaged even though they have almost normal pressure levels. …show more content…
It is a rare condition which may be inherited. When uncomplicated, microsurgery is an option to correct the structural defects. Other cases are treated with medication and other surgical options.
Examination:
Early detection, through regular and complete eye exams, is the key to protecting your vision from damage caused by glaucoma. A complete eye exam includes five common tests to detect glaucoma.
We can not find or trace out glaucoma problem by any one of a test. Detailed investigating and comprehensive examination using different procedure and protocols summarizes and help in diagnosis a patient suffering from it which are given below:
