Without God’s influence, it makes me wonder if she would have still stuck through and made it out alive. I feel that she put a lot of mental effort to speak with him on multiple occasions, especially when she was reading the bible and praying for such long periods of time. In, “God Must Have Been Sleeping”: Faith as an Obstacle and a Resource for Rwandan Genocide Survivors in the United States," this piece talks about how those experience religion before and after the genocide. Religion is both an obstacle and a resource for those experiencing traumatic event. Churches played such a huge role in many of the ruthless killings of the Tutsi’s. This makes me wonder if Immaculée had a hard time finding the courage to keep her faith and if she feels that because of her experience, she may not hold the place she worships in a place of high
