Pythagorans founded the multiplication tables and the Pythagorean theorem. The field of geometry was explored first by Euclid and Archimedes had work on the force of gravity and founded the early forms of calculus. Robin Wilson's article “Early Greek Mathematics” explained that around the end of the fifth century BC Thales had predicted a solar eclipse. “In geometry he applied congruent triangles to navigation at sea.
