Abstract art is work that represents natural objects in a simplified, distorted, or exaggerated way. Nonrepresentational art presents visual form with no specific reference. An example would be Grey Night Phenomenon because it has a variety of forms, composition, and moods.

The function of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is commemoration. Maya Lin wanted to recognize those who died in the Vietnam War. Maya Lin used black granite as her medium she wanted a nontraditional memorial.

3. Augustus of Prima Porta function was commentary. The medium of the piece was marble. Augustus persuades others that he is politically powerful general and that he is divine. The sculpture shows that he is divine by having cupid, the sign of Venus, next to his feet. Venus is the goddess of lava and beauty and the mother of the romans. Not having any shoes is a way of representing gods.

James used a monochromatic color scheme, which means he only used one color.
