Most people agree with the fact that if we increase guns owned violence would decrease, but numbers have come to shown otherwise. Americans make up less than 5 percent of the world's population, but own 42 percent of all the world's privately held firearms. In 2007, a study was done with results that 88.8 guns per 100 citizens. In Australia, the government bought back 650,000 guns resulting in a homicide rate dropped by 42 percent 7 years after passing, as well as a 57 percent drop in firearm suicide according to a Harvard study.
