When your friend tells you that you've done something to hurt them, you should respect that. Likewise, they should respect you if they've done something to hurt you, and they should cease those actions. Even if you think they shouldn't be offended or upset by what you've done, you should still respect that. Everyone has their own feelings, and they're all hurt by different things.
On the topic of feelings, when your friend's feelings are hurt, you should support them. Be they hurt by you or something else, you should listen to their problems and support them. Even if they don't want to tell you exactly what their problems are, you should still suport them and let them know that you'll be there for them in the event that they decide they want to talk about their problems. If you don't support your friends, this can lead to the assumption that you don't care about their feelings. You wouldn't want to be friends with someone who doesn't care about your feelings, now, would you?
To recap, friendship requires work from both parties. One party alone simply cannot maintain a friendship without the other also putting in effort.
