There is a certain allergic reaction called anaphylaxis resulting in hives, difficulty in breathing, and lowering blood pressure. This side effect is part of the hepatitis B vaccine and even though no one has died from the allergic reason the outcome of the vaccine clearly outweigh the risks, in turn causing the hepatitis B vaccine safe. Though if not vaccinated every year about 5,000 individuals die soon after being infected with the hepatitis B virus and nearly 10,000 individuals every year suffer severe liver damaged, known as cirrhosis, or liver cancer caused by the hepatitis B virus (The Benefits of Vaccination Outweigh the Risks). Because of the severe consequences it is recommended for newborns to be vaccinated with the hepatitis B vaccine in case they get infected at young.
