The Battle of Lexington and Concord was one of the first battles that started off the Revolutionary War. The battle was between the British and the colonists, the British were the first to attack in the battle on April 19,1775. When they were on their way to Lexington and Concord three horseback riders were sent to alarm the colonists. Paul Revere an American silversmith, engraver, and an early industrialist, William Dawes a shoemaker, and Samuel Prescott was a Patriot in Massachusetts during the Revolutionary War. By those three men going and alarming the colonists ahead of time it gave them enough time to hide all of their artillery and ammunition from the incoming British. The colonists lost in Lexington, now that colonists in Concord were alarmed that the British were coming they were ready to fight and not give up. When the British were attacking people tried to hide and fight, but some were too scared to come out from where they were. Everyone hid their artillery and ammunition from the British so they could not use or blow them up. During the battle only one\third of the people did believe in breaking from the British. After the battles that number rose a little bit because people got a sense that they wanted to stand up for themselves. 174 people were wounded and 73 had died in the battle.
