People normally develop symptoms of HIV shortly after being infected, but it normally takes years before it’s even noticed. Most people don’t realize they have HIV because the symptoms only last for a short while. The first symptoms of HIV can include a mild fever, headaches, exhaustion, and soreness of the muscles. Other symptoms could include swollen glands in the throat, arm pit, and groin. The most advanced stage of HIV is AIDS. People with AIDS may experience a myriad of symptoms. HIV/AIDS can be a disease transmitted through body fluids and unprotected intercourse. The most common ways it is spread is through unprotected intercourse, sharing needles or syringes, getting HIV-infected body fluids into open wounds or sores, and also being cut by a HIV contaminated object. Babies can also be infected with HIV/AIDS through the birth of the mother or through breast feeding
