Type/Cause – A patient had a mass on the back of his head caused by residual cancer. He had surgery on the mass in attempt to remove the cancer, but the wound failed to heal correctly and cancer was still active within the wound. He also had lung cancer and was currently receiving chemotherapy.
Treatment- The treatment of choice for his wound was contraindicated due to his active cancer. The physician applied a prisma dressing with cutimed within the base of the wound.

a). Wound Type: Stage 3 pressure ulcer
Dressing and its purpose: Silvadene is an antimicrobial silver dressing. A silvadene sheet dressing was used to treat infection or prevent infection within the wound.

Wound Type: Diabetic foot wound (ulcer)
Dressing and its purpose: An Apligraf dressing was used on the foot ulcer. Apligraf promotes wound healing from the superficial coating of protective skin and collagen within the dressing. It is made up of living cells derived from baby foreskin.
How often changed: After an Apligraf dressing is applied, it should be changed in 3-5 days, depending on the physician’s order.
c). Wound Type: Amputated left great toe due to gangrene
Dressing and its purpose: V.A.C Granufoam dressing is used to provide a bacterial barrier to reduce the risk of infection in a wound.
How often changed: The Granufoam dressing should be changed every 4-6 weeks, depending on the physician’s order.
