Students start to go to school from six o’clock in the morning and end school at around four o’clock afternoon. After that, they attend private tutoring sessions that their parents paid for and finish going home at around eleven o’clock pm. The reason for Koreans to attend long hours of studying is to make them prepare for university entrance exams and going to the elite university, students will later get a great and stable career. Due to long hours of learning the materials, this probably one of the reasons why students in South Korea do well in school. The supplemental tutoring tool give students a chance to ask tutors additional questions on particular subjects they are confused about. This may a good side of the story; there would be a dark side to it. Students in South Korea are in constant extreme stress in their academic. With one lower grade in their report card can ruin their chance of getting into their dream university. Thus, students cram in the materials that help them do well on their tests and college entrance exam. Not all students in high school end up earning a diploma due to personal circumstances, but in later in life, they are able to go to earn a high degree because there is a chance of attending community college. For some people want to dispute the fact one the reason why so many students fail to graduate high school because students are unmotivated in school to do well. They know they have a later chance in life to go back to school and just under perform in school. Whereas, in Korea, students have only one chance a year to perform well on the test to enter the university of their choice.
