On the first day of school, when your students come into your classroom each student comes in with different backgrounds, learning styles, and perspectives. Being an educator, you have to accommodate each students aspect, values and beliefs. Although we have various genres when children read books they are looking for something they can understand, relate to, and or escape in. If children wants a more positive outlook on life they can use a the books to escape from their reality. If children love their life the can read something that they can relate to. If child can relate and understand a story it can help with reading strategies, reading comprehension, recognizing story structures, metacognition, and answering questions.
