As in half of the surgical procedures medication errors and adverse drug, events can occur. Mistakes in labeling, incorrect dosage, and documentation errors happen globally. These kinds of problems are caused by drugs that have the same name or look much the same but have different pharmaceuticals properties. Thousands of patients died because of these medical errors. By focusing on priority making care safer by reducing the harm caused in the delivery of care pharmaceutical companies can curb death and injury with safer medications. As ISO is updating and expanding its key Identification of Medication products (IDMP) standards which will help to stop global toll of death and injuries caused by medication errors can make care safer by reducing the harm caused in the delivery of care.
