This can be applied in a real-world context in areas such as Charleston, SC. charleston is a port city so there is much debate of the importance of the environment and the increase of profits. One side is from the business point of view, saying that they want to increase the depths of the port, allowing larger ships to enter the port. The other side is from a more environmentalist point of view. This view is that the debts should not increase because it would ruin a large part of the habitats to the local fauna. It would also cause more pollution by the increase of waste from the large ship, furthering ecological damage. The water and the animal who inhabit it play a large role in the identity of the city of charleston. Both sides of the argument make good points as to why they would want te depths of the harbor to be increased. However, without these habitats and animals, the city could lose a valuable aspect of its charm.
