When creating a story, the setting can impact every thng. If the setting of the story is changed in any story, It can change the whole plot. In “Geography Matters”, The Crucible, and even my own life the setting of the story changes everything. A story can’t be a story without the setting. A story wouldn't be the same without a setting and this is why.
First off, In Geography Matters it talks about how the setting can be impact the story heavily in different ways. Geography is mountains, rivers, lakes, and all kind of nature. One way the setting impacted the story's characters is through religion. The crucible takes place in Salem, Massachusetts. At this time, most residents were of the Puritan religion. The Puritans came to America and tried to convert all of the indians and members of the christian religion. The Puritans were very religious people and were very loyal to their religion and felt very strongly on how they appeared in the eyes of god. For example, the character Rev. Parris. Father to Betty Parris, Rev. was a popular man who was respected and held high up in the church. But when Betty is accused of witchcraft he becomes very paranoid and scared of how that will reflect on him as a father but also a man of the church. It says “You are not undone! Let you take hold here. Wait for no one to charge you you declare it yourself. YOu have not discovered witchcraft” This shows that Rev. is very heavily caring towards the way he is seen in the eyes of god and in his religion. Another example is the character Tituba. Tituba is the african american slave of the Parris family, and is also a follower of the religion. Tituba after being seen in the woods with several other women dancing (Including Betty Parris) is accused of being a witch. When this occurs she is beat in front of the people being told to confess that she is doing witchcraft. After taking several whips she decides to confess to being a witch,
