Tobacco is a crop that's been around since the beginning of time going back to notable time periods like the colonization of America. Its products are sold worldwide and is a leading corporation with sales of over a billion dollars. The downside; however, is that tobacco use is the top avoidable cause of death in the United States today, with more than about 500,000 deaths each year.
Tobacco but more specifically; cigarettes, kill more people each year in the U.S. than HIV, Alcohol, Illegal drugs, Vehicles and Guns combined. With even more people killed around the world. According to the centers for disease and control “more than 10 times as many U.S. citizens have died prematurely from cigarette smoking than have died in all the wars fought by the United States during its history.” Just imagine how many people that is.

Companies that produce and distribute tobacco products do make billions of dollars annually selling to people across the nation which in fact can help the economy. There are decent amounts of taxes laid on these products in order to help the government. This all sounds good but the downside is that with every pack of cigarettes they sell, about $2.06 of every pack goes to the millions of people that die annually from using their products, more specifically cigars and cigarettes.
