1. We build on our strengths. What did you do right in this session? What did the client notice as helpful?
In this session, I displayed attentive body language by leaning forward, nodding my head and smiling. I also encouraged the client to talk more by saying “that’s great” or “mhmm” and I used silence to allow the client to further her explanation and gather her thoughts. The client noticed that I summarized the session very well and focused on the positive factors that she mentioned.
2. What stands out for you from the client feedback form?
On the client feedback form the one thing that stood out the most to me was when the participant mentioned, the moment I used silence. She said that it allowed her to gather her thoughts and continue on talking about what she wanted to say.

I helped the client bring out her concerns by asking closed ended questions like “do you participate in after school activities?” and “how many class do you have this semester?” to gain basic information on how busy the client is. I also used open ended questions like “How do you organize your time?” and “how do you prioritize what is most important to least important?” to determine how effective her time management is. By mixing open and closed questions with silence and encouraging cues the client was able to speak freely about all the contributing factors that she felt were an issue when it came to time
