healthcare manager to know healthcare in and out so we can implement and decide what direction we
need to direct our staff everyday.. We need to understand the impact modern medicine has, why
healthcare cost is rising, what major issues we are facing, understanding Medicaid and Medicare and
the current state of national health policy. If we were to change one thing it would have to be that there
would be a cap on how things are charged so that people were not overcharged for something just

There are pros and cons to technology and diagnostics are easier and more accurate. When it
comes to surgery they are becoming more minimally invasive. But the dark side to technology is the
use of the internet. More and more people these days turn to the internet for diagnostics and end up
just freaking themselves out instead of going to the doctor ( “ Impact of Technology on Healthcare –
AIMS EDUCATION, “ 2013).
There are many reasons as to why the Healthcare costs are rising. One of these reasons are

Medicare and Medicaid are two very different programs to help those who struggle with their
daily living activities such as bathing, cleaning and finances. Medicare is a federal health insurance
company that helps seniors 65 years and older, certain younger people with disabilities and people with
end-stage renal disease ( medicare.gov). Medicare has four different parts that it offers which are
Medicare part A, B, C, D. Medicare part A is a hospital insurance program that covers hospital stays,
skilled-nursing facilities, hospice, and home health. When you are an inpatient in a hospital you are
subject to a deductible and daily coinsurance after the sixtieth day. When it comes to skilled-nursing
facilities you are covered 100 days after a 3 day hospital stay but are still subject to a coinsurance after
the sixtieth day as well (Yesalis, Holt & Politzer 2013)
