This includes basic industries, banks, agricultural systems, and communication networks. A private sector can still exist even under a democratic socialism economic system. But, all the major indudstrics and corporations are owned by the state instead of private citizens, which is how our government is now. So , with the government in charge of major industries and corporations it would make them responsible for planning and directing the economy. Democratic socialism would then shift decisions from private to public institutions. Decisions concerning investments, prices, and wages would be placed with the public institutions. Socialism is comparable to communism because they both have the same idea with how much power the government should have. The difference being that communists get people to accept their system through violent revolution. Socialists reject that idea and instead want the adoption of socialism to come through peace and agreement. And they felt the only role government should have was to protect basic human rights. A few of those basic rights include the right to life, the right to liberty, and the right to property. The libertarians also didn’t want the government involved in the private lives of its citizens. And what I mean by that is they wanted to repeal all of the laws on victimless crimes. The included crimes are prostitution, pornography and gambling. They wanted an unregulated free market that wouldn’t regulate the price of thigns like Milk. They also wanted to get red of the laws that prevent people from smoking marijuana.
