Out of the many life-span theories, I can relate most to Bronfenbrenner’s ecological theory. This theory includes five environmental systems. The microsystem, mesosystem, ecosystem, microsystem and chronosystem. The microsystem is where the person lives, most direct interactions with family, peers, school, neighborhood, and the community happen here. The mesosystem is the connections between microsystems, such as the relationship between family experiences and peer experiences. The exosystem is the relationship between a persons contexts where they do not have an active role. The microsystem is the culture where people live. Lastly, …show more content…
Growing up in a rather tight knit family and community, I was extremely influenced by my family, neighborhood, peers, and school. As a toddler before attending school I went to daycare, there I was introduced to kids of many ages. The relationship with these kids brought relationships with their siblings and their family. When I attended school my daycare friends went to a different school district so I had to make new friends at school. Since I had to make friends at daycare before, it wasn't so hard to make them when I went to school. Also, the relationship between my parents and teacher was always positive and my teacher and I always had a positive relationship. This could serve as a positive example of the mesosystem. A negative example of the mesosytem could be a child that has a bad relationship with their siblings or other children and go to school and have trouble building relationships with other kids or children that have tough relationships with their parents that come to school and then form a negative relationship with their …show more content…
Since my brother and I had already started school in one school district we decided to stay and my parents would travel back and forth. My brother and I would stay with our grandparents during the week since our parents worked odd hours. We would spend most time with our parents on the weekend, this would sometimes increase conflict between my parents and I and even my brother and I. This only lasted a short period of time. We all saw how it effected our family and my parents made the decision to strengthen our family. Another example of the ecosystem would be a child that has a parent in the armed forces. When the parents leave it causes them to have anxiety, depression and other negative emotions. These emotions have and effect on that child's development. Although, my parents jobs indirectly effected my development, it didn't effect it negatively. I believe it actually benefited my brother and I. It gave us a chance to build an awesome relationship with my grandparents and I know for me personally, since I was older than my brother, I picked up a lot of characteristics from grandparents and picked up many life lessons that I carry with me
