It is claimed that herbal medicine may both treat and prevent diseases. This adds to a deep belief that these treatments are safe because they are “natural” and, therefore, harmless alternative to conventional medicine. In addition, herbal products are often exempt from rigorous regulations, such as in the U.S., and prescriptions are usually not required for these inexpensive products. In most cases, research has confirmed traditional experience and wisdom by discovering the mechanisms and modes of action of these plants as well as reaffirming the therapeutic effectiveness of certain plants or plant extracts in clinical studies. In most cases, doctors may recommend the insertion of TIPS Shunt to patients, a metal tube (known as stent) placed within the liver under x-ray guidance through an incision in the jugular vein in the neck. Basically, the TIPS shunt works by decreasing the pressure against which blood must flow within the liver (reduces portal hypertension). Although, not all patients are recommended to use TIPS Shunt. It’s for those with severe difficulty with ascites or bleeding from varices that is not able to be controlled with medication or endoscopy.
