Success is the correct or desired result of an attempt. Malcolm Gladwell the author of the book Outliers concludes how we can achieve success and he adds that success can be defined in different kinds of ways, but whichever definition we choose it will require an enormous amount of hard work. There are a lot of ways to become successful then we think and each of them consists overlapping identical factors that we need to keep in mind. The factors are such as having opportunities, being dedicated, and etc. However, there is nothing that can come in front of putting in time and effort since it’s the most important and is the major premise if we want to be successful. If we can realize that the world is full of chances and take them as advantages it will definitely lead to our success, however we don’t realize it at the same time as others do. Although we are given equal amounts of chances, timing creates the difference of when and how we can be successful. If we were born early in the year we have more opportunities, which gives us a big head start of reaching our goal. This opportunity is called The Matthew effect which is an example from the Outliers. The Matthew effect shows a person has more opportunities if they were born early compared to someone that wasn’t. There are more opportunities because they have a higher chance of being grouped with people from a grade above. The Matthew effect claims that the earlier they are born makes them get an opportunity to have different experiences, however this doesn 't always mean that they will have more opportunities. It means that they will be getting an opportunity in a faster timing than some of us with a late birthday, but people with a late birthday will also get a different opportunity that the people who apply to the Matthew effect cannot. To be successful again comes in different meanings, but the goal is that we work to accomplish it. For example, Stephen Curry a current NBA player starts practicing before practice. He shows up before anyone else, but this isn’t because he needs motivation, but it is for him to get better. So, lack of motivation also doesn’t mean it can be used as an excuse to not become successful. In chapter 2 of the book Outliers uses The Beatles as an example of successful people. “What was special about Hamburg… It is the sheer amount of time the band was forced to play”(49) The superstars like John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr had a time when they weren’t every girl 's idol. However, they were successful by getting recognition and becoming famous by being a talented band. The Beatles spend a lot of time together, but in the beginning most of it was to talk and drink since they couldn’t practice even if they wanted to. However, the moment The Beatles got an opportunity of being offered a stage in Hamburg when they lived in Liverpool they took the chance. The Beatles practiced and performed on stage all the time, even if the stage was in a strip club. It wasn’t the motivation that pushed them through. The eight hours of performances 7 times a week indirectly changed them from amateurs to professionals. Therefore, motivation is a tool to help us become
