Dr. Mark Pauley is my current Bioinformatics teacher, but that was not the first time I have seen. University of Nebraska, Omaha (UNO) is a fairly small campus so students get to see their professor around campus. I first met Dr. Pauley at UNO gym. I am certain he does not remember this. I was a tiny new college student and newbie in the gym. I was trying to bench press a 115 and failed to be able to get …show more content…
Dr. Pauley seem to be perfectly fine with the question. He gave me a faint smile as though saying I should calm down. Dr. Pauley establishes that he was born prematurely and if was not for technology and science, he would not be alive today. I began to imagine that if the primitive technology of 50 years ago kept Dr. Pauley alive, I cannot ponder on how many more it is saving now. While I was thinking he says that, “Bioinformatics is a combination of the two things that kept me alive. I felt like it was not far from what I have studied in college and it would be a new experience in the science world.” Dr. Pauley seem passionate about following the part of Bioinformatics. However, Dr. Pauley’s precise answer about why he chose Bioinformatics was not what excited me. The fact that he was premature baby was what intrigued me the most. I began to question myself; “is that why he seem a little slow?” Yes, I know it sounds rude, but I am not saying his movement or intelligence is slow. It is about how he socialized specifically in class. Dr. Pauley just does not seem comfortable around
