When people are asked about me, they usually say “well, he was the prime minister of Great Britain.” But I, Sir Winston Churchill, have accomplished much more in my lifetime.
Background info (birthplace, birthdate, any relevant childhood info., relevant relationship info., etc.):
I was born November 30, 1874, in Oxfordshire, England. I was born in the Blenheim Palace, and my religion was Anglican. My father was Lord Randolph Churchill, and my mother was Jeanette Jerome. I grew up in Dublin, Ireland. My real name is Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill.
What led up to the main event?:
I did quite poorly at the first two schools I attended, and within weeks of enrollment for the third one, I joined the Harrow Rifle Corps. This is what started my military career. I was also a supporter of social reform. I switched to the liberal party in 1904 because I didn't believe that the Conservative party was committed to social justice. I was elected a member of parliament in 1908, and I was appointed to the Prime Minister's cabinet as the president of the Board and Trade. Also in 1908, I introduced several reforms for the prison system. I also introduced the first minimum wage, and helped set up labor exchanges for the unemployed. I helped in the passing of the People's budget, which introduced new taxes on the wealthy. In January 1911, I made a controversial visit to the police siege in London. While serving as the first lord of Admiralty, I helped modernize the British navy. I ordered that ships be built off of oil-fired engines, as opposed to coal-fired engines.
