The Philippines views as the best supplier of seafarers in the world; the Filipino seafarers are the result of many races. The Filipinos originated from Malay races before Spanish, Japanese and Americans came; the blend of many races and qualities forms the Filipinos as one of the best seafarers of the world. Filipinos are more favored by remote superintendents than some other nationalities in light of their diligent work, uplifting mentality toward work, constancy, preparedness, persistence and creativity. Authority may make the Filipino sailor work, yet it won't make him work to his fullest limit. A personal management style animates efficiency in Filipino sailors. He works and buckles down for the officer whom he can consider his companion. Subsequently, Filipino sailors are prone to be inspired of individual concern and consideration from their officers than by raising of voice or swearing.
The Westerners should understand the values of Filipino seaman. The work to Filipino seaman is just a necessary chore. Their accomplishment symbol is to see that their family is enjoying the luxuries while they work and someday their social status will be change. Debts of gratitude are very important to Filipino seaman. The Filipino seaman is working very hard for an officer whom they have debts of gratitude. They will repay the officer with more efficient work and faithfulness.
If the officer needs to criticize the Filipino seaman he should criticize both his good and undesirable practices; the officer ought to do it in private to avoid the Filipino seaman to feel humiliated. An officer's hurried activity, dreadful comment, open censure, loss of temper, and so forth will incite the Filipino seaman to
