After going back to the doctor with a same complain, X-ray and some blood work was done to fine the cause of the hip pain. The doctor found that Bill’s X-ray is sowing abnormality in his right thighbone which shows osteonecrosis, which means that the bone tissue has stopped working (is dead) due to lack of blood supply.
Bill was asked if he had experienced any trauma in the …show more content…
Fractures to hip, hip dislocations along with some other hip traumas can destroy blood vessels and harm the movement the femoral head in the skeleton. Femoral head, which is the highest part of the femur head, is the site where avascular necrosis commonly occurs in the skeleton along with knees and hip in the skeleton. According to Cure search for children’s cancer, avascular necrosis usually affects the long bones ends such as the femur bone, which are the thighbone by causing problems in the hip and knee. Along with the femur, the avascular necrosis can cause a problem in ankles, shoulders and upper arms in the skeleton. Since avasculer necrosis causes the bone tissues to die due to the lack of blood flow to the bone and its symptoms can take several months to show its effect. According to Pierre Lafforgue, avasculer necrosis is caused locally or universally. Locally it can occur by trauma or micro trauma, which includes osteonecrosis of the medial condyle, osteonecrosis of the mandible or small bones and vertebral osteonecrosis. Due to the trauma, the blood supply or flow is disrupted, which causes pain, discomfort and other situations. It also disrupts a getting nutrition and oxygen, which is one of the important function and is done by red blood cells to caryout the oxygen and nutrition’s to the other part of the body. Red blood cells are also made in the bone marrow, so due to lack of blood supply this process can’t be completed which is also very important in growing children for growth and development. Even though its sounds scary to think that part of your bone is not getting blood and it’s going to be hard for person. It usually repairs over time by re growig the bone tissues known as reticular tissues while in other case the person can die due to slow treatment, like during stroke. As we talked that bend is one of the cause for avasculer necrosis to occur. There are also other cause that can effect on bone tissues and can stop the blood flow to the bone tissues, for example, people’s who consume heavy alcohol and smoke cigarette on daily bases, and person who is going through blood and bone marrow diseases and sickle cell anemia and underwater diving along with other medical conditions. A vascular usually occurs in the long bone (femoral head) but it can also affect ankles, knees and hip in the
