When people imagine Musicals they think of Big Broadway lights shining down on people singing and acting but most do not know the story behind the curtains you see. People wouldn't’ ever first think of Athens on a hill in the fifth century B.C.E. Musical Theatre started as a unpopular idea but over the years it started to grow into a world wide famous reputation. A musical is a well written play that makes living art forms in dialogues that include music and dancing. Musical shows are on more stages than plays and they make up more than half of broadway. It is also the setting behind the camera and animations of films we know today like Disney movies and musicals like The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. Imagine living back in the prehistoric times and not having books or videos to show information and just looking at drawings on the walls. What would entertain people? Musicals are trying to express all points of people and use their creativity to help them. There are people who have depression, family problems, school and the world to deal with and the writers write plays on real life as well not just fantasy. Dear Evan Hansen and The Waitress showed millions of people that they will be found and that there is always hope. Be More Chill and Twenty One Chump Street showed the dangers of drugs and how it affects you. It may be serious but they also use humorous tones and inspiring plots that make people realize and helps people understand others and themselves. The end result makes people ecstatic with
