Initially, when I attended the U of M I wasn’t sure I was interested in teaching, so I majored in child psychology because I enjoyed learning how the human mind works, particularly that of the developing child. At school, I took several courses in child development. The topics ranged from developmental disabilities, language development to emotional development. While I was attending school I volunteered at middle school near my house called Battle Creek Middle School. There, I worked with young girls in the seventh grade who had behavioral issues. I helped them stay on task and complete their missing assignments. This volunteer position taught me about patience and exposed me to the different way students
