Nature is what we think that influences our behaviour by genetic inheritance and other biological factors where nurture looks into external factors which could affect behaviour such as experience, learning on an individual. Looking at different approaches to physiology within the nature vs nurture debate the Biological Approach is at the nature side due to it focuses on genetics, hormonal, and neurochemical explanations of behaviour however the Behaviourism falls under the nurture side due to this approach looks into all behaviour is learning from the environment through …show more content…
There ideas are mediating processes occur between stimuli and responses and second one behaviour is learned from the environment through the process of observation learning. Children observe people around them behaving in different ways and this is illustrated during the famous Bobo doll experiment (Bandura, 1961). Children are surrounded by different role models such as parents, other family members, characters on Children’s TV, friends within their peer group, and teachers at their school. These models provide examples of behaviour to observe and imitate. It explains that if children observe individuals speaking nicely to each other, then they should copy this behaviour however if they see violence, aggression then this could lead into them thing this is “normal” behaviour as they are copying their role model. Children are more likely to imitate behaviours modelled by people of the same genders. Also the people around the children will respond to behaviour it imitates with either reinforcement or punishment. If a child imitates a model’s behaviour and the consequences are rewarding, then the child is more likely to continue with performing this behaviour. The advantages of the social learning theory, it can explain some complex behaviours a child is going through, which they may have
