U.S Navy seals are highly trained and skilled assassins who conduct military operations in the sea, air and on land. Navy seals need to be in top physical and mental shape because seals perform very challenging missions foreign and domestic. Some of the missions performed are underwater reconnaissance missions, finding and eliminating enemy targets, and gathering information. There are a few steps needed to become a navy seal.
Application have to be accepted by a government review board to be allowed to try out for the seals. Even though a degree is not required, people with a 2 or even a 4 year degree are more likely to succeed than someone without a degree according to navy sources. Requirements have to be check have to see if a candidate is even eligible. Stuff like background check, height and weight and etc. If all checks out good then an applicant has to take the asvab. The asvab is one mental test with different areas of studies such as math, comprehension, mechanic and a couple more categorize which where learned in school. After passing the asvab, the candidate must then pass physical PST test and then wait for and opening.
The next step is to attend the navy boot camp in Great Lakes, IL. Boot camp consist of daily exercise outside and also in the pool. Recruits also study topics in the classroom such as naval history, first aid, rules and regulation, and ships. Boot camp is around 3 months long and teaches recruits everything needed to get the job done.
The naval special warfare preparatory school comes next. This school is a pre-seals training program which last for 2 months. This school consist mostly of physical exercise such as swimming, running, and power building exercises. Recruits must pass a more difficult PST test at the end of the school. Failure to complete the PST will result in elimination from becoming a seal at that particular
