Material and Method Subjects and samples- This was a case-control study conducted in King George’s Medical University, a tertiary-care teaching institute, and Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, a tertiary-care government non-teaching institute, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. A total of 1118 subjects were enrolled including 559 cases and 559 controls. Cases were defined as mothers (age 18-40 years) of live preterm neonates (birth at less than 37 weeks of gestation).…

Brazell cross point to Kirk Preterm birth carries the possibility of increasing the mortality and morbidity rate of the fetus. Studies have shown that there have been an association between low socio-economic status and an increased rate of negative health outcomes and preterm deliveries (Iams & Donovan, 2011). The United States and Canada have reported a connection amongst maternal women with low education levels and premature births (Iams & Donovan, 2011). These reports have also been concluded in the United Kingdom and Europe (Iams & Donovan, 2011). This has especially been reported of spontaneous premature delivers of less than thirty two weeks gestation (Iams & Donovan, 2011).…
Introduction Preterm birth can cause serious health problems or even be fatal for a baby, particularly if it happens very early (Weiss, 2015). In general, the more mature a baby is at birth, the better the chances of surviving and being healthy is. Ms. W’s case is no different; she is in preterm labor in the hospital, refusing treatment. Moreover, due to pregnancy and medication annoyance, Ms. W wants to discontinue all treatment, despite doctors’ orders. Ms. W’s potential risks of premature delivery will increase if she does not understand her medical indications, quality of life in association to risks, contextual features, and the way she applies patient preference.…

All human beings care for their safety. This is due to their natural fear of death. Especially when people have close, caring, connections with others, their concern for others is just as strong as their concern for themselves. Families automatically have connections, but the love within them is not always there. Mothers who abort their children do not show much love for their child.…
What the optimal timing for clamping the umbilical cord after birth has become the subject of controversy, started many debates and led to multiple studies. This paper will define cord clamping and delayed cord clamping. It will also look into the most recent research to show if there are any benefits or risks to both preterm and term infants by using delayed cord clamping, and if there are any maternal health benefits from this practice. After the third week of conception blood vessels begin to develop to carry a supply of oxygen and nutrients from the mother to the embryo.…
This health policy attempts to reduce the number of adverse birth outcomes caused by a dearth of preconception care. The evidence-based interventions suggested in the policy are primarily focused on education and testing. Attainable education-based interventions include a focus on nutrition related to folic acid and iron intake, avoidance of environmental hazards such as pesticides, lead, and methyl mercury in fish, and family planning initiatives including birth spacing and contraceptive methods. Testing, when it is feasible to do so prior to conception, gives mothers and babies the healthiest start possible. Testing should be conducted for genetic conditions, underlying causes of infertility, STIs and HIV, and proof of vaccination from serious…
During my research for this paper, I determined that there is a high infant mortality rate among African-American women in the United States. According to a National Vital Statistics Report, United States is ranked the highest among all countries in the world for infant mortality rate (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2014). Statistics have also shown that infant mortality rate is the highest among African-Americans both statewide and nationwide and also including Franklin County, where I currently reside. I wanted to further explore the possibilities of why these numbers are much higher for the African-American woman.…

Locked in a jail cell pregnant inmates are neglected daily medical treatments and are brutally mistreated threatening the lives of both them and the baby.
