I want to find out their goals, values, and more information about them. Communication with the NCOs is essential. I would like to communicate and understand their situation and progression based off their goals. Learning about their values will be essential to filling out their form. Another problem I could face is filling out the character blocks on the form. Using the correct verbiage to paint a clear and accurate portrait of the rated NCO can be difficult. In the new form, I want to address the rated soldier’s strongest values with substantive comments. If any “NO entries’, I want to clearly articulate failures and avoid vague comments. On the report, I want to reflect significant accomplishments during the rating period. I believe bullet comments would justify the rating I give in the checked box. I will justify excellence bullets and ensure junior officers and NCOs know the system. As a Senior Rater, they must address the potential of the NCO and focus on their performances.
