Normandy France is a land full of excitement and history. When most people hear about Normandy they think about D-day and the invasion of it. That is a big part of its history and the future. However there is more to Normandy France than what most people think of. Medical advancements can be seen here. They had to find ways to keep the horses from dying from a virus. Normandy’s laws and their friendship with England has changed over the years. They used to share some of the same laws until the wars started. Along with the changing of laws the economy has changed. The social effects of the invasion of Normandy are seen in the medicine that has been developed. Some of the vaccines that have been formed are for horses that have Equine Herpesviruses. Equine Herpesviruses is a virus that is now being found in horses all over the world, but it is very common in Normandy, France. “Equine herpesviruses type 1 and 4 (EHV-1 and EHV-4) are ubiquitous in the equine population. One of their main properties is their ability to establish life-long latent infections in their hosts even in those with natural or vaccine-induced immunity” (Taouji et al. 394). This virus is the cause for the death of some of the horses in Normandy. It is the cause of death for 1 out 4 horses that they have completed autopsies on. After the World War II there was not much medical advancements, because the towns had to be rebuilt for the invasions.
